Job Description

Our client is a successful, people centric IPP with a great culture and environment.

This role reports to the Project Manager. Project is a 240 MW solar PV plant in the Free State.

This role is on the Owners Engineer side.  24 month contract.

  • Prepare and supervise the implementation of Employer’s quality system for the construction of the Solar PV Farm including quality system for Owner’s Engineer role;
  • Support to Project Engineers on the project
  • Support to Project Site Construction works and activities

Responsibilities:

  • Foster and lead a corporate culture that promotes sustainable ethical practices, encourages individual integrity and fulfils social responsibility objectives and imperatives;
  • Recommend policy and procedure improvement;
  • Ensure overall implementation and compliance to all the internal Policy and Procedures of the Company, including compliance with Corporate ESMS (Environmental, Social, Management System), IFC Standards and Equator Principles; Contractors Quality Management system (QMS) and Project Quality Plan (PQP)
  • Carry out duties in a proper, loyal and efficient manner to the best of their ability and at all times act in good faith and use their best endeavors to properly conduct, improve, extend, develop, promote, protect and preserve the business interests, reputation and goodwill of the Company and not do anything or engage in any activity which is or may become harmful or contrary to such interests;
  • Immediately disclose to the Employer any information which comes to their knowledge, and which does, or may, lead to them not being lawfully able to perform their duties or responsibilities.

Execution Phase (Construction)

  • In support of the Project Manager and Project/Quality Engineers, coordinating and supervising construction works, ensure that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, review progress and liaise with the Employer’s site team;
  • Assist the site team regarding compliance with company policies, procedures,
  • Quality requirements, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Overall responsible for managing the Contractors project quality system and revising Employer’s site quality documentation as directed.
  • Quality related data capturing of site generated daily reports and contractor document uploads into Share Point.
  • Overall responsible for guiding the Employer’s site team to monitor the contractors’ implementation of their own quality systems and plans, in line with the requirements in the construction contracts.
  • Periodic site visits to support Employer’s site team’s responsibilities relating to quality supervision and to audit contractor’s quality systems as directed by the Project Manager or Quality Engineer.
  • Perform periodically contractor data pack audits to ensure conformity with the contractor and employers project quality plans.
  • Maintain quality control procedures and documentation related to site works, ensuring effective traceability of all aspects effecting Quality.
  • Assist the Commissioning phase of the project in coordination with the Project Manager, Commissioning Manager and O&M team.
  • Ensure all the contract and Employer’s requirements are fulfilled before the final completion is released.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Applicable technical tertiary qualifications related to Civil or Electrical
  • Industry specific qualifications or
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification would be

Minimum Previous Experience:

  • 6-7+ years as a Quality Supervisor / Manager
  • Expertise in renewable energy projects is hugley advantageous
  • Direct experience working with civil, electrical, mechanical and any other built infrastructure environment.
  • South African citizen is non negotiable

Other Skills:

  • Extensive computer skills especially in MS office 365 and Share Point
  • Sound knowledge of applicable construction materials and quality control thereof
  • Sound knowledge of national specifications pertaining to civil and electrical works
  • Ability to communicate applicable compliance obligations requirements clearly and
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a challenging environment;
