Job Description
Our client is global leader in full turnkey solutions for Renewable Plants across the world. From developing projects through to O&M.
Offices are based in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
We are looking for an Executive in Business Development to:
- Act as the face of the Company in pertinent industry conferences, seminars and/or conventions to market the company’s services and capabilities and at the same time keep abreast of developments and innovations in the industry
- Build and maintain relations with national authorities and key commercial parties (utility and industrial off-takers, regulators, equity investors, lenders, OEMs, EPCs, service providers …)
- Contribute to the definition of the BU Business Development (BD) key inputs to the overall company strategy as well as to setting the objectives and the budget for same.
- Contribute to the definition and roll out of BD standards, methods, tools, manuals and guidelines
- Participate to all relevant Governing bodies of the BD team globally.
- Do prospecting and identify and originate new business (direct negotiations or tenders, greenfield and brownfield, acquisition, extension, divestment)
- Lead the company’s strategy in Southern Africa, all project development activities, grow and managed the Southern African footprint spanning project development, project execution and asset management functions. In leading project development activities in Southern Africa, tasks included origination, project development and bidding through to financial close.

- Propose the BD Team organization and determine the required profiles, staffing, job descriptions and KPI’s
- Elaborate the annual budget for the BD Team (capex / opex / KPIs) and monitor the performance
- Allocate resources within the BD Team and manage workload
- Manage the resources in the BD Team: recruitment, nomination, objective setting, development, appraisal, …
- Develop and nurture the pipeline of talent within the BD function
- Lead multi-disciplinary professional teams spanning project development activities including site selection and permitting; Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor selection and negotiation of EPC Contracts, O&M selection and negotiation of O&M Contracts, Project agreement negotiations (fuel supply, PPA’s,
- Implementation/Concession Agreements, Connection Agreements etc, insurance, equity partnering and negotiation of shareholder agreements and project financing.
8-10 years Business Development experience
4-6 years relevant business development management experience in renewable energy
