Before applying for a job…
Job searching can induce stress, a sentiment I understand. To alleviate some of this stress, consider an effective approach: thoroughly review the job advertisement before submitting your application. This practice will save you both time and frustration, especially in instances when recruiters fail to respond to you or when you face disappointment. It’s imperative that if you lack the relevant experience or essential qualifications, refrain from applying. A recruiter won’t necessarily keep your cv for other opportunities, so don’t apply on that basis.
Recruiters sift through numerous responses to job ads daily, and are seriously pushed for time. If your application doesn’t align, more than likely your email will be deleted. This isn’t a reflection on you personally, as recruiters are often unfamiliar with applicants. However, they lack the time to provide personalized explanations for rejections or non-selection especially when it’s hundreds of applications they might trawl through.
To bolster your chances, ensure your CV mirrors the requirements of the role you’re pursuing if you have those requirements. Any experience mentioned in the job description but omitted from your CV should be incorporated into your cv to ensure alignment, again only if you that experience.
Ultimately, recruiters aim to match the candidate closely with the job specifications. Even if you’re not the ideal fit, maintaining politeness and engagement can leave a lasting impression, potentially benefiting your consideration for future roles that align better.
The key lies in fostering relationships and creating a positive recall with recruiters, significantly enhancing your job search outcomes.
